2min 38sec looping animation incorporating kite motif and influenced by observations made in parts of Dublin, Ireland during June 2010. © Mocksim
Combines aspects of the experience of travel, observations of coffee in a vibrating cup, a decorated wall in Hackney Wick, East London, UK, considerations about ventolin and asthma. 3 min, 40 second loop. The soundtrack includes percussion by Shaun Charman and Stace Constantinou. © Mocksim
Two years in production this (4 min.) looping simulation/animation employs umbrella motif, includes percussion (by drummer John Viner) and a text recorded as voice-over by the artist. Low res. sample here is of the first 1min. 30sec. of the animation © Mocksim
This (3 minute) looping simulation/animation uses as sound-track, part of a recording of (now deceased) radio DJ John Peel reading a letter from the artist. © Mocksim
This looping simulation/animation designed to be played on screen which is at an angle, held up by a live performer or with an object underneath (for more details contact artist). The soundtrack combines clips from a widely used desktop software package © Mocksim
Looping simulation/animation designed to be played on mini analogue TV. The soundtrack is of Winston Churchill telling a joke with the responding laughter removed. The voice has been lip synced through a face found in a scanned broken mug (the same raw components as in 'Cormac's Cup'). Note: clip here is at 90deg counter-clockwise. © Mocksim
Figurative virtual objects created with materials taken from Michael Landy's 'Scrap Heap Services' tumble around in this 5 minute silent simulation/animation. Sample here is 45 seconds from that. Ideally the video should be projected to at least 2m in height, with Michael Landy's items on display nearby © Mocksim
This silent looping simulation/animation uses the same raw material as another work 'Cormac's Cup', data from a scanned smashed mug, and simulates duplicates of that object being dropped. The animation ideally is projected in Portrait and through a helium filled balloon. Note: clip here is at 90deg clockwise. Sample here is 30 seconds from the 2 minute loop © Mocksim
In this silent (1 minute) looping animation/simulation the components of a broken mug move apart or shrink then expand to reassemble. For the purposes of producing it a real mug was smashed and the individual parts were scanned in using specialist hardware. The intention is that this be projected in the proximity of a hammer and the real pieces of mug. The title relates to an old Celtic folk tale. © Mocksim
Silent looping simulation/animation based on observations of late night passengers, standing, some inebriated, travelling on London Underground. Simulation employs Second Order Differential Equations. Ideally the animation is projected up so that the rectangular frame edge blurs/is not apparent. © Mocksim
Simulation/animation based on Markov Chain mathematics, a simple way of modelling how molecules move in space. © Mocksim
Animation utilising imagery and sounds obtained through research at Brighton Rail Station, UK. Aspects of 2D animation were created using Discrete Event simulation software (for modelling queuing systems). © Mocksim
Silent looping digital simulation/animation which uses equation of the Simple Pendulum. Initially based on observations of a car-tyre swinging from a tree. © Mocksim
Looping stop-motion animation with chant. A toy train moves on a circuit bounded partly by the limits of the camera's image frame. The artist's newborn daughter slept on his shoulder as he captured the 600 frames required to make this. © Mocksim
