Welcome Tannoys (2022)
Movement-activated audio devices were placed at the entrance and exit of the exhibition, delivering short welcome and goodbye messages in the softest voice, a nod to the fact that, though marketed for people with dementia, these gadgets appear spectacularly unfit for purpose. (They seem hastily designed to capitalise on anxieties. The sound quality is crude, the tone intrusive, and the overall effect more likely to startle than soothe.)
